THE POWER OF RITUALS
We need ways to deal with our daily life, and many people are seeking ways to deal with the feeling of anxiety that modern times can bring up. Studies at Harvard Business School has found that those who use rituals feel better and more in control of their life situation. They found that rituals play a a number of critical roles: “rituals in the face of loss can help us feel less grief, rituals with families can make us feel closer, and ritual with our partners can reinforce our commitment to each other.
Rituals come in many different forms and ways and are practiced in cultures the world over for as long as we can remember. They can help us develop lasting habits. Rituals practiced daily quickly become lasting automated ones. A ritual is any action of habitual comfort with a specific intention. They need don’t need to be complicated, but can be as simple as any action we do with awareness and intentions.
There are no limits to rituals that are existing but also the ones that you can create for yourself. Some examples are:
-Pray and meditation
-Practicing forgiveness and gratitude
-Setting your intention
-Speaking affirmations
-Breath work
-Relaxing body and mind
-Candle gazing
The list is endless and what ritual is best may surprise you and may be something you are already doing. as long as you bring awareness to your practice which in return brings you inward to reflect. Main reason for rituals whether done alone or with others is that they are very powerful and enrich in all areas of our life.
